Byron Approves Budget for 2024-2025

BYRON - The Byron City Council moved forward with approving the budget for 2024-2025 after a public hearing on Wednesday night. The bonds for the new public works building is included in the budget, along with a new truck for the public works department, and potentially new computer systems, but some of those plans may depend on the Governor of Illinois. Byron City Administrator Brian Books explains how the budget could change if the Grocery Tax repeal goes into effect.

“I can’t tell what specific projects would be put on hold,” said Books, “but it certainly will impact the priority of when we do some things.”

He said he’ll have to see how the rest of the year plays out.

The bids for the construction of the new public works building are set to go out very soon.
