ROCHELLE - Lee-Ogle Transportation System representatives gained valuable insights after a series of meetings this week talking to members in the community in both Rochelle and Dixon.
Senior Associate Christy Campoll, a transportation consultant from RLS & Associates out of Dayton, Ohio, said that the area has unique needs.
“There is a lot of interest in transit that serves the truck stops,” Campoll said, “that is a need I don’t hear about often.”
She said that the industrial parks are an ideal target for public transportation, especially in Rochelle with such a large workforce.
Attendance for the meetings have been fair, and they are meeting with focus groups and area industry leaders to get more information. The meetings were held to help shed light on the potential for fixed route bus systems.
Assistant Director Steve Davis said that those transportation options will take six months or more to implement.
