Rochelle sophmore Andrew Nuyen tied for 3rd place in the pole vault on Saturday at the Class 2A Boys Track & Field State Final Meet in Charleston.
Nuyen cleared 14 feet, 7 and a quarter inches for his 3rd place finish at Eastern Illinois University.
Cooper Schaad of Geneseo won the pole vault competition as he cleared 15 feet, 11 inches. He won in a jump off against Tony Keene of Harrisburg for 1st place.
Nuyen had won the pole vault event last March in the Boys Class 2A Illinois Top Times High School Track & Field Indoor Championships in Bloomington.
