ROCHELLE - Several Memorial Day services will be held this weekend and on Monday to honor those individuals who have given their lives and helped protect this country.
In Rochelle, the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will be Monday beginning at 10 AM with a parade that steps off at City Hall. The parade will travel through downtown Rochelle on Lincoln Highway to Lincoln Avenue, then to 9th Street where it will travel north to 8th Avenue, then arrive at Lawnridge Cemetery for a ceremony that will begin at 11 AM.
Roberts Armory WW II Museum in Rochelle will also be open on Memorial Day between 1 PM and 4 PM. Weather permitting, the Higgins Boat will be open for viewing. The Armory is located off Intermodal Drive.
The White Rock Cemetery Memorial Day Association will have their annual service at 9:30 AM Monday at Elim Reformed Church in Kings. After the service, a ceremony will be held at the cemetery.
A wreath laying ceremony will take place at the memorial at the Ogle County Courthouse in Oregon on Monday at 11 AM, and another ceremony will take place at Riverside Cemetery. After those events, an open house will take place at the Oregon VFW Post 8739. They will have a bounce house, silent auction, bake sale and more, including lightning bingo beginning at 5:30 PM.
Polo will honor Memorial Day with a Parade beginning at 9:30 AM on Monday.
The Village of Mt. Morris will have a Memorial Day Program hosted by American Legion Post 143 at 10:30 AM on Monday. It will be held on the Campus Square at the Memorial Fountain.
