CHICAGO - The state is proposing a program that would eliminate one-billion-dollars in medical debt in Illinois. The ten-million-dollar investment would get rid of medical debt for 340-thousand low-income Illinoisans. Cook County has already implemented a similar program for county residents, assisting over 200-thousand residents and eliminating nearly 350-million-dollars in debt.
