Fire at Rochelle ethanol plant (Updated)

Departments from Rochelle along with the Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District responded to a fire Friday morning at the CHS Ethanl plant at 1900 Steward Road.

The blaze was called in a short time before 11 as the facility is located on the south side of Rochelle.

Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsville said that around 50 bushels of corn had over heated in a milling building at the ethanol plant. The flames were contained inside the building along with the hopper for the corn to fall into.

Sawlsville said that there was damage done to the corn and some equipment as the temperature reached over 600 degrees from the fire.

The cause of the flames is unknown at this time along with the cost damage to the business.

None of the workers or firemen were injured.
