A woman suffered fatal injuries yesterday afternoon in Rochelle after being struck by a train.
The incident took place a short time before 3:15 as the subject was struck by a Union Pacific Railroad train around 200 yards west of 9th Street near the Ken Wise Rochelle Railroad Park.
There were several people at the park when the incident took place.
Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby said that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The body came to a rest near the tracks.
Chief Higby said there appears to be no foul play at this time.
The Ogle County Coroner was called to the scene. The name of the person killed is not being released at this time until family members are notified of the incident.
The woman is not from the local area and an autopsy is scheduled on the body today.
