Rochelle officials approve the sale of the Hub Theater and the golf course restaurant

City officials in Rochelle last night approved the sale of the Hub Theater along with the restaurant at the Fairways Golf Course.

Richard Kennay of Ashton will be purchasing the Hub Theater along with the former Lincoln School on South Main Street for Box Office Distillery. They plan to make and distribute Vodka, Whiskey, along with Gin. They will also have banquets, meeting rooms, and even show movies at the theater.

The former school building will be used as a storage facility for the alcohol.

Company representative Aubrey Kennay said its important to keep the integrity of both the Hub Theater and the former Lincoln School.

Richard Kennay will pay $94,000 in liens for the theater and plans to close within 30 days.

1 meeting room is expected to seat 200 people. They hope to have a grand opening event next summer.

The restaraunt at Fairways Golf Course will be bought by John Scanlon who also has restaurants in Davis Junction, New Milford, and Rockford.

Renovation work will exceed $700,000 for remodeling of the kitchem, restrooms along with new floors, ceilings, lights, and heating and air conditioning. Scanlon hopes to be open prior to Christmas for holiday parties and events.

Money from the sale of the theater, school, and restaurant will return to the developers in rebates from the TIF fund from the city.
